There are so many trends we’re loving this spring/summer but one of our favourites is the fabulous floral trend. We know that floral prints are a springtime given, coming back year after year in some way, shape or form. But according to the likes of Vogue, florals in SS15 is all about bringing back the sass. So when it comes to pulling out those old floral print dresses from last year, make sure you get ready to match, clash and accessorise to create something completely new and edgy.
Catwalk designers such as Simone Rocha, Max Mara, Louis Vuitton and Michael Kors have all showcased some fabulous florals on the SS15 runways – and we’re thrilled to see this classic look get reborn in this year’s hottest trends. Whether you opt for bold, bright prints, some 3D or neon action, vintage-inspired ditzy florals clashed with metallics, or colours that are more sinister and enigmatic, there are so many ways you can make your spring/summer florals stand out this season.
ADD A FLORAL ACCESSORY
Don’t go full floral this summer; instead add a touch of the floral trend with one of our fab accessories. Our flower print pointed collar is the perfect SS15 accessory to jazz up any outfit. Team with an everyday shirt or go for a contemporary, bold look by teaming with a slogan sweater.
Floral doesn’t always have to = girly. If you love to mix feminine prints with boyish cuts, our floral neckties are ideal for your spring/summer wardrobe. Style your everyday shirts and tops with one of our floral print ties and rock the androgynous look for work. Or team your tie with ripped jeans and a vintage rucksack for ultimate tomboy style, perfect for festival season or just popping to the pub with your friends.
MATCH WITH DENIM
If you want to rock this season’s most wanted trends, be sure to team up floral with denim or chambray. The two go together perfectly and pastel floral tones will be just perfect for the spring colour chart. Shop our floral collar and classic denim shirt now.

Sleeveless jackets have been all over the SS15 runways in London, Paris and Milan this year. And it’s not long until we launch our exciting new sleeveless jackets collection here at Dawson D Rose. But long before the fashion catwalks of LFW, sleeveless jackets and waistcoats were a huge fashion hit. And here we look at sleeveless jackets through the decades…
Sewing patterns from the 1960s show us a very bold ‘swinging sixties’ look; from cute/casual to ultra glam, waistcoats and sleeveless button-up jackets were all the rage. Chunky buttons and pockets were key details in the 1960s waistcoat and styles were seen in both short and long.
The late 60s / early 70s waistcoat had the introduction of cool crochet and festival fringing, giving the sleeveless jacket a more hedonistic, care-free style.
By the 80s, there was an eclectic mix of styles for the ever-popular sleeveless jacket but padded shoulders and tuxedo style waistcoats were key at this point. Yves Saint Laurent turned the traditional smoking jacket into a huge trend for women and power-dressing marked the decade in women’s fashion. And we’re sure you’ll agree that the 80s sleeveless jacket look is just fabulous!
So it’s been an interesting journey for the humble waistcoat. And here at Dawson D Rose, we’re very excited to launch our own Sleeveless Jackets Collection for SS15. Our stylish Chepstow Sleeveless Jacket and our stunning Elgin Sleeveless Jacket will be available to customise online very soon (keep checking our online shop). Coco Chanel once said, “Fashion fades but style is eternal.” And that’s exactly how we feel about tweed. Quintessentially British, it’s not the most accessible trend but it’s a true classic that can be surprisingly contemporary. Chanel’s love of tweed was recently displayed at Paris Fashion Week, showcasing some fabulous SS15 tweed catwalk numbers. And we’re inspired by the whole collection…

We’re especially excited for Tangerine, a great spring colour which denotes happiness, creativity and freedom. To add a touch of Tangerine to an everyday outfit, choose our classic hacking jacket, The Brunswick and select your own pop of colour for the undercollar leather and the pocket flap. Our jackets are all made to measure so you can customise the details.
Another colour we are loving is Scuba Blue. Blue hues are important for SS15 and our beautifully bright Blenheim Jacket is the perfect compliment for a casual jeans and t-shirt combo. Or it can be styled up with a simple summer dress. And don’t forget you can really it make it pop by choosing the leather pocket detail…..which colour will you choose?
